Torre de Moncorvo is a surprising, predominantly rural town. It originated with a nobleman called Mendo Curvus, lord of these lands and participant in the Christian reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula.<\/p>\n

Torre de Moncorvo is rich in heritage. The Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption, dating from the 16th to the 18th century, is a powerful heritage site where the sacred art museum is located. The Castle of Torre de Moncorvo is a medieval fortification, which was originally a wall, the interior of which was a new town. The Historic Center of Torre de Moncorvo and the Philippine Fountain are other heritage highlights.<\/p>\n

If you wish, you can choose to go hiking or running on the ecopista do sabor, between the north bank of the River Douro, where you can enjoy a view of the river, Torre de Moncorvo, the sabor valley and the Serra do Reboredo. <\/p>\n
