Six Senses Douro Valley

Description

Six Senses Douro Valley is located in the Douro Valley, in an area classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This farmhouse, which was later transformed into a hotel, has 71 rooms, suites and villas. The 19th century farmhouse has a contemporary interior design combining elements of traditional Portuguese architecture and the inimitable Six Senses style. The hotel is located 125 kilometers from Porto International Airport (OPO) and the road trip to the hotel is along one of the most beautiful roads in Portugal, passing beautiful examples of traditional Portuguese architecture. Six Senses Douro Valley consists of 71 guest rooms, a spacious spa with an indoor pool and 10 treatment rooms. The Wine Library, located in the center of the resort, has a wine list with more than 700 options, where wines from the Douro and Portugal are highlighted. A tasting room and a wine-by-the-glass dispenser allow guests to enjoy the region's famous wines with local delicacies. Every day at 6.30pm there is a wine tasting where you can sample wines produced in the region's 350 or so quintas. This space has a large reference library and touch screens with links to the vast oenological resources of the Douro Museum. In this space, guest oenologists and international oenology experts give talks, sharing fascinating insights into Portugal's winemaking techniques with guests and sharing tasting tips. The Abraão Valley Restaurant has an open kitchen area, the Open Kitchen, which houses a wood-burning oven and a Josper grill, as well as a large fireplace. All these spaces are relaxed places where you can sample regional specialties that we've given a healthy twist. A variety of activities including river trips with meals and wine tastings on board, visits to farms and wineries, tree climbing, kayaking, cycling and tile painting are just some of the possibilities.
