Description
This manor house, known for being an 18th century manor house, was built with the intention of one day serving as a school or hospital when the founders passed away. Carolina Cândida Guedes Osório de Gouveia e Vasconcelos was the heiress to the manor house, who in turn donated the building to the Municipality of Moimenta da Beira in 1923.
The spaces that were planned to be built there never were, and the building was put up for sale at a public auction.
From then on, the Manor House was used for various services until, in 1984, the building became the property of the Municipality again and, 19 years later, a cultural space was inaugurated in Moimenta da Beira, the Municipal Library, nicknamed the Aquilino Ribeiro Municipal Library in homage to our writer.
