Description
The Tua Valley Regional Nature Park (PNRVT) covers an area of approximately 25,000 hectares and includes the municipalities of Alijó and Murça (on the right bank of the River Tua), Vila Flor and Carrazeda de Ansiães (on the left bank of the River Tua) and Mirandela. The PNRVT brings together territories with distinct cultures and traditions, which means that there is a great diversity of choice for visitors in terms of gastronomy, wines and handicrafts, geology and hydrogeology, micro-reserves, flora and agro-systems.
The landscape is diverse and marked by mountains, plateaus and valleys, particularly those of the Douro, Tua and Tinhela rivers.
Alijó's micro-reserves, which run along the east side of the municipality bounded by the River Tua, as far as the parish of Santa Eugénia, are an invaluable source of landscape and environmental wealth. Set against the backdrop of the Tua Valley, this micro-reserve has three walking routes reserved for this area. They are PR1 ALJ, PR2 ALJ and PR4 ALJ.
The PNRVT's gateway, located in São Mamede de Ribatua, provides visitors with information on the biodiversity, culture and traditions of this micro-reserve in Alijó.
