Côa Walkways

Description

Inaugurated on September 9, 2022, the Côa Walkways are 930 meters long and bring together the best of the history and landscape of the area in which they are located. The walkways connect the Côa Museum and the disused Côa railway station, near the mouth of the Côa River. There are 890 steps and a drop of 160 meters from where you can see a landscape marked by rough slopes and terraces, the tranquillity of the Douro and Côa rivers, and countless plant and animal species, some of which are protected. The route requires a bit of a breather when climbing, but the stops allow you to contemplate an extraordinary territory, which brings together the Prehistoric Art of the Côa Valley and the Douro Wine Region Landscape, both classified as World Heritage by UNESCO.
