Pátio Do Carregal, the birthplace of writer Aquilino Ribeiro
Description
Aquilino Gomes Ribeiro was born in Carregal, Sernancelhe, on September 13, 1885. He lived a childhood fully immersed in the countryside. His house and the courtyard with the Sanhudos coat of arms, next to the church, were his world until he was ten years old. From there he could see the imposing cypress trees, from which he "received a lesson in altitude and firmness", as he describes in "Cinco Réis de Gente".
He was one of the greatest Portuguese writers of the 20th century and was honored with a place in the National Pantheon.
