Description
From the Serpa Corte Real family, this imposing manor house (18th century), now a housing tourism unit, stands in the churchyard of Vilarouco. It belonged to Col. António Cardoso de Serpa Corte Real, -military miguelista. Its magnificent façade, Baroque style, stands out a beautiful and rare stone of arms. The manor house has been restored by the current owner José Carlos Pereira Corte Real - a local poet and writer, a man linked to the folklore and agriculture of the region, and a great-great-grandson of the former owners. Between the Douro and the Torto, in one of the most pleasant places in S. João Pesqueira and the Douro Wine Region, surrounded by wonderful vineyards and almond groves - this is a Manor House that deserves a visit and a quiet holiday in a cosy and familiar atmosphere.
