A historic day for the Douro – The protocol to reactivate the Douro line was signed

Last Friday, the cooperation protocol for the reactivation of the Douro Line between Pocinho and Barca d’Alva was signed at the Douro Museum in Peso da Régua. This was the starting point for the 14-month study to find out what investments need to be made so that this section of the Douro line can be repaired. A 28-kilometer stretch that was closed in 1988.
Douro is European City of Wine 2023
On June 15, in Brussels, Belgium, the Douro was distinguished as the “European City of Wine 2023”. The Douro World Heritage Site is thus becoming a European benchmark for wine, vineyards, culture and the harmonious celebration of nature and the centuries-old work carried out by generations of Douro people.
