Description
Paiva Natura Park, promoted by the Municipality of Moimenta da Beira, is the result of the implementation of an integrated plan within the framework of “Sustainability and Efficiency in the Use of Resources – Natural Heritage”, supported by the Norte 2020 | ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) programme.
Aimed at improving the quality of life in rural areas and diversifying the region’s economic activities, this project builds upon and enhances the potential of initiatives previously developed in the area, fostering their sustainable development and promotion.
The region’s unique biodiversity is reflected in the diverse ecosystems found along the banks of the Paiva River, where important species of fauna and flora thrive. At the same time, the landscape is enriched by remarkable heritage elements, both monumental and closely linked to local traditions and ways of life. Among these are megalithic monuments, ancient hillforts, a rich religious and civil architectural heritage, and the many socio-cultural expressions that preserve the identity and history of the people of this territory.
